FSS is the distributor of Tire Cradle for the Washington D.C. region.

When your vehicle sits for an extended period of time, the tires will develop flat spots.

What is a Flat Spot?

How long the vehicle sits determines the severity of the flat spot. As a vehicle is driven, the tires eventually heat up and the tire pressure rises. When the vehicle is parked, the hotter tire will give to the relatively cooler concrete. The contact patch of the tire is stressed by the temperature and density difference between the tire and concrete. This is especially true of vehicles with low profile tires. The shorter sidewall of a low profile tire absorbs less of the flex, therefore the contact patch absorbs more of the flex. Therefore, the wider the tire and the longer the vehicle sits, the greater the tendency to flat spot. Remember, high profile tires are designed for high speed driving.  Tire Cradle is the solution to extending the life of your tires. If you own a vehicle that has problems with vibrations while driving then perhaps you should consider this product.

Temporary Flat Spot

Temporary flat spots develop from normal parking. As you drive the vehicle, the tire will become concentric. This is known as level 1 or 2 harmonic flat spots.  Harmonic flat spots are rated from 1-10, 10 being the worst. A Level 1 harmonic flat spot is felt every rotation of the tire. Therefore you would feel this flat spot at any speed. Temporary flat spots can become permanent flat spots.

Permanent Flat Spot

A harmonic flat spot of 6 or higher is considered a permanent flat spot. A tire with a permanent flat spot would cause a vibration at 66-70 mph. Sometimes balancing tires will resolve this issue, however balancing is not always the cure-all.

The Solution!

Tire Cradle insulates the tire from the temperature and pressure differences of the concrete. Just park the vehicle on the Tire Cradle for as long as you need. The vehicle's tires will not develop flat spots. Each Tire Cradle is made of a very dense polyurethane polymer that provides cushioning for your vehicles tires.  Think of the it as a memory foam that absorbs the tire tread. Tire Cradle has a lifetime guarantee.
